What is coaching?
There are many misconceptions around coaching. Many believe it is just therapy from an unlicensed practitioner. In reality, its a truly unique service aimed at helping individuals with aspirations to live a fuller life. This is accomplished by removing the obstacles that lay in the way preventing them from reaching their goals.
What is the difference between coaching and Counselling?
In a nutshell Therapy/ counselling/ psychotherapy focus on the individual’s past. The client is encouraged to talk about childhood experiences, and long-term behavioural habits. The aim is to work through traumatic events and painful feelings, reduce self-destructive habits, and repair and improve relationships. In this sense, therapy focuses the negative aspects of the individual’s life and looks at how to improve it. There is a focus on the past, on introspection and analysis. Therapy sessions are usually more long-term and can range from months to years.
Coaching works on a more short-term basis. Sessions are set up to work around a goal, which gives the client a clear beginning and end. The Coach is there to provide the client with support, help them to clarify goals, identify obstacles and problematic behaviours in order to create action plans and achieve desired results. The process of coaching from a Positive Psychology angle identifies the client’s strengths and positive attributes as the starting point. From here the coach helps the client to form a positive frame-work from which to move forward.
Having outlined these differences it is worth mentioning that whether you choose to work with a life coach or therapist, both aim to enable clients to make positive changes in their lives and become more productive.
Where does the coaching take place?
Coaching sessions are conducted on a one to one basis through one of the Three Coaching Packages. Each session is typically an hour long. We are all creative and alert at different times of day and in different settings. I offer coaching online via Skype or Zoom, face to face, or even whilst walking in the park or a gallery. How long are the sessions?
A typical coaching session is one hour long, and will occur every 1 or 2 weeks based on your individual preference. Depending on your goal and the realistic time frame for achieving it, a client will typically require one of three Coaching Packages. I also offer one off booster sessions that are 2 hours
How much does it cost?
